The Earth
The Earth was formed 4.54 billion years ago, and existence of life started around a billion years later. The Earth is the 5th largest planet in the Solar System, the larger planets are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Earth is the only planet with any life form on it that scientists are aware of. However there has been traces of water found on Mars; but this was thought to have happened a long time ago.

It's Shape
Like the Moon and the Sun, the Earth is a spherical shape yet there is a slight bludge around the Equator because of how the Earth rotates in it's orbit. Unlike the Moon and the Sun there are 7 continents with one of them being formed completely of ice. As well as 3 main oceans which separates the continents by vast amounts. On these 7 continents there are 196 countries with an estimated 7.086 billion people living in these countries on these continents.
By 2050 it is estimated that the world's population will be between 7.5 and 10.5 billion people. Many scientists think that many countries and cities will not be able to handle the growing population. It is important that we find sustainable resources and renewable resources to be used in case anything does happen.
It was once thought that the Earth was indeed a flat shape rather than a round sphere. In the 4BC an early scientist named Aristotle discovered that the Earth was indeed circular. It was originally thought that if ships sailed to far out in open water, they would fall of the edge and never return. By Aristotle found that when a ship sailed hull first into the ocean it would seem to become smaller and smaller, and not fall of the edge of the Earth.

It's Size
The Earth has a diameter of 12,756km which is 109 times smaller then that of the Sun; but 3.5 times greater then that of the Moon. If we were to use our conversion measurements; with the Sun's diameter equalling 1m then the diameter of Earth would only be 9mm. That's very small!
So we can see that Earth may seem big when we are flying in a plane in the sky, but when we look at the sizes of other planets in our solar system; it's not really.
